Spring Sprang Sprung

There are things about all of the seasons that I love. I love Summer except when it's 500 degrees outside.  I love getting to play with the girls outside, blowing bubbles, swimming, vacations, and all of the fun that summer brings. I love Fall and watching the leaves change, the crispness in the air.  I love Winter, I love the cold weather, bundling up, wearing my favorite fuzzy socks, building a fire, drinking hot chocolate.  My favorite season in Texas though has to be Spring.  There's just nothing like Spring in Texas.  The trees coming back to life, the BLUE BONNETS, longer days, slightly warm weather.

I also love all of the decorations that start coming out this time of year. All of the chicks and ducks, eggs, bright colors, etc.  With Easter coming up also I try to make sure our family keeps our focus on the true meaning of Easter and not so much the commercialized part. There is nothing wrong with celebrating the fun side of Easter but for my family Easter is a lot more than a bunny hopping down the trail carrying easter eggs filled with chocolate and other goodies.  That's all fine and good but the real meaning of Easter is about God giving up his son Jesus Christ to die for us so that we can have eternal life with Him.  That's worthy of a celebration if you ask me. :)

I do love decorating our house and now with all of the ideas I see on Pinterest, I love decorating even more.  I started this past weekend decorating our house for Sprin and as I add more decor I will post pictures.

I started this past weekend with a new wreath.  It was so much fun to do and so super easy! I went to Hobby Lobby and EVERYTHING I bought was on sale! I was stoked!! Here is a picture of what I came up with.

I loved it so much that I had to make another one for my mother-in-law! So here is what hers looks like:

Aren't the birds adorable? I'm not sure why I love them so much right now but I just love all of the little birds I've been seeing around.  Reminds me of when I was little sitting at my Granny & Papaw's table for breakfast and we would watch all of the birds playing the trees and birdbath and the squirrels running up and down the trees.  I still sat in the same chair when I would spend the night with them even in high school. Such precious memories I have sitting there with them.  I guess that is why I love my little birdies on my wreath so much. :)

A Girl and her Loves

For those who know my youngest daughter Jenna you know that her #1 goal in life is to be Dorothy Gale. She LOVES The Wizard of Oz and has spent most of her young life doing what she can to be a modern day Dorothy.

This child will not wear pants because "Dorothy would NEVER wear pants."  I've tried convincing her that Dorothy lived on a farm and would wear pants if she needed to but she to this day doesn't believe me.

We have even been searching for an affordable Cairn Terrier which is the type of dog that Toto was to be our next family pet.

You can imagine the conversation that took place when we hear that the move The Great & Powerful Oz was coming out.  For weeks I've been asked when is Oz coming to the movies? And it FINALLY happened!

Sunday evening we went to see The Great & Powerful Oz.  I wish I could've taken picture during the movie so you could have seen just how in to this movie my precious Jenna was but you will just have to picture a 5 year old little girl on the edge of her seat not blinking once so that she wouldn't miss one moment of this movie.

I honestly didn't know what to expect when we saw the movie. I made sure she understood it wouldn't have Dorothy in it, most likely wouldn't have any of the other characters in it from The Wizard of Oz but that didn't seem to bother her one bit.

Some days I hope that we will eventually pass this phase of trying to be Dorothy Gale and in some ways she is not as passionate about it as she once was and I do miss that some days.  I am cherishing these moments and thankful that she has chosen Dorothy as a role model instead of some of her many other choices. :)

It's a Glamorous Life

It's one of those weeks where I'm looking and thinking surely it's Friday but it's really only Wednesday. Thankfully we all know what Wednesday means.......DUCK DYNASTY!! :)  Then I wonder why am I looking so forward to Friday....I'm a mom. I don't get the weekend off! I do look forward to the weekends though because that is when I get to spend time with the ones I love the most.  That is one of the things I struggle with so much about working full time outside the home. I feel like I don't get enough time with my daughters but I do have to do what is best for our family and at this point in our lives it's just not possible for me to be able to stay home full-time.  Maybe one day God will open that door in our lives but until then I am willing to do what I need to do for my family and at least He's put me in an interesting place. My job is definitely not boring.....ok maybe the job isn't all that eventful but the people around where I work are pretty entertaining.

It's been a crazy week at home and at work.  Hubby woke up on Monday not feeling well and found out today he has strep. So since he's been sick I've realized just how much he really does help me around the house on a normal basis.  I take that for granted sometimes. I'm definitely ready for him to feel better again.

Being a mom and wife is not always so glamorous but I do have to say do have to say there's nothing in this world I would trade either of them for.
